Satara, Feb. 12 -- In a significant political development in Satara district, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) have initiated discussions to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power in the Zilla Parishad, despite the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 27 seats.

Although the BJP secured the highest number of seats in the district council, the NCP won 20 seats while Shiv Sena bagged 15. With 33 seats required to secure a majority in the Zilla Parishad, a post-poll alliance between the NCP and Shiv Sena would comfortably cross the majority mark.
