Pune, Nov. 28 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shirur election chief Dharmendra Khandare today expressed confidence that the party's candidate will win the post of Municipal Council Chairperson in the politically sensitive Shirur Municipal Council. He emphasized that none of the BJP candidates contesting this election have a criminal background.

The Shirur Municipal Council comprises 24 members including the Chairperson. In this election, all three Mahayuti constituents-BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar group)-are contesting independently. The NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) has also fielded candidates in all wards, while the Shiv Sena (Shinde group) has put up seven candidates.
