Nashik, Nov. 28 -- Amidst ongoing speculation over the future of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today asserted that the alliance is rooted in ideology and not driven by political convenience or circumstances.

"The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is not based on power or situations. It was forged on ideology by Balasaheb Thackeray, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani. This partnership is old, strong and will remain permanent," Shinde told reporters during his visit to Nashik.
