Shimla, March 9 -- In a continuing crackdown on drug trafficking by the Himachal Pradesh government, history sheeter Ankesh Thakur has been arrested and remanded to jail custody, police said on Monday.

The 39-year-old accused, resident of Samoli village in Rohru tehsil, was taken into custody in compliance with the prescribed detention order and remanded to the District Jail Shimla for three months.

The accused has previously been found involved in drug trafficking cases. An FIR has been registered against him at Rohru police station under sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and approximately 43.64 grams of heroin/chitta were recovered from the accused.
