Shimla, Nov. 1 -- The Private Mini Bus Drivers and Conductors Union, Shimla, has announced an indefinite strike beginning November 3, over unresolved issues of route violations and growing competition among buses operating in the city.

In a letter addressed to the secretary of the Private Mini Bus Operators Union, the union stated that a meeting was held on October 12 with senior officials of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to resolve the matter.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that buses traveling beyond 10 km should not enter Shimla city and that neither HRTC nor private buses would pick passengers without proper route permits.
