Shimla, Aug. 24 -- In a significant move aligning with the Supreme Court's recent ruling on stray dog management, the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a city-wide anti-rabies vaccination campaign.
This initiative follows the apex court's August 22 directive, which permits the release of sterilised, dewormed, and vaccinated stray dogs back into their original localities, except for those exhibiting rabid or aggressive behaviour. Such dogs are to be kept in designated shelters post-treatment.
The Supreme Court also instructed municipal bodies across India to strictly enforce the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, set up feeding zones, and establish helplines for reporting violations.
