Shimla, July 21 -- Continuous heavy rainfall since Sunday night has again disrupted normal life in Himachal Pradesh, with the Shimla-Jubberhatti Airport Road blocked after a recently constructed breast wall collapsed around 9 am on Monday.
Long queues of stranded vehicles were seen on this crucial route, while adverse weather and poor visibility also affected flight operations at Shimla Airport.
Water supply in Shimla town has been temporarily suspended due to high turbidity levels in water sources. Sahil Sharma, spokesperson for Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited, said that pumping from the Nauti Khad water source at Gumma was stopped as turbidity reached 6,850 NTU in raw water at 8:30 am.
