Shillong, Aug. 20 -- Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the Shillong Medical College, the first state-owned medical institute, is waiting for a Letter of Permission from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to start its academic session.
Lyngdoh said the incumbent Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal has taken charge as head of the Shillong Medical College in lieu of her previous position at RIMS Imphal.
"We are ready to start holding classes but we are waiting only for a Letter of Permission from the National Medical Commission. I am confident that the college is ready to start the academic year," the Minister said.
