Varanasi, May 1 -- A grand Shila Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony was held on Friday for the renovation of the historic Shri Jagannath Temple located in the Assi area of the holy city of Kashi.
On this auspicious occasion, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Param Pujya Swami Shri Shankar Vijayendra Saraswati Ji Maharaj, the head of the Kanchi Kamkoti Peethadheeshwar, laid the foundation stone for the temple's renovation with his own hands.
The program began with a grand Kalash Yatra in which a large number of women participated wearing traditional attire and carrying auspicious Kalash. Following this, the Shila Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony were completed amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras.
