New York, Aug. 28 -- Sixth seed Ben Shelton of the United States advanced to the third round of the US Open with a clinical 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta today IST.

The 22-year-old American, who recently lifted his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title in Toronto, broke Carreno Busta's serve at the start of every set and never allowed the 34-year-old veteran to settle.
