Latur, July 24 -- A 16-kilometer run marked the first day of junior college for an academically driven student, the son of sugarcane labourers, from Maharashtra's Latur district.

Rahul Rathod, a Class 11 aspirant residing at a shelter home for underprivileged youth, chose an extraordinary commute, running the entire distance to his new campus without using public transport or bicycle.

The son of sugarcane labourers, Rathod has lived at the educational shelter home for six years. He completed the demanding route in one hour and fifteen minutes, channelling his passion for athletics into a symbolic gesture celebrating both education and physical fitness.
