Kolkata, Dec. 13 -- Satadru Dutta, the chief organiser and promoter of Lionel Messi's ongoing four-city India tour, was on Saturday arrested after large-scale vandalism and chaos at the venue, Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, over limited access to the football star, police said.
Dutta was formally arrested a couple of hours after he was detained by the police as part of the probe into the mismanagement at the venue, which angered the spectators who vandalised the stadium.
"We have detained the main organiser and ensured that this mismanagement does not go unpunished and that the fans are adequately compensated," said state police Director General Rajeev Kumar at a press conference within the stadium premises.
