Kozhikode, April 4 -- Congress leader and Thiruvaananthapuram MP Sashi Tharoor's convoy was blocked and his gunman and driver were attacked at Wandoor in Malappuram on Friday night, police sources said.

The attack occurred during a roadblock at the Chelithode bridge near Thiruvali in Wandoor when Tharoor was on way to an election campaign event for Congress leader AP. Anilkumar, who is contesting in Wandoor constituency.

The Wandoor police have registered a case against five suspects based on a complaint filed by Tharoor's gunman, Ratheesh KP. The police have taken one suspect, Ummer, into custody and recorded his arrest. It is reported that two more accused have been arrested.
