Mumbai, Aug. 20 -- In a sharp dig at Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, who contested the BEST Workers' Cooperative Credit Society elections together but failed to win a single seat, union leader Shashank Rao said here today, "No matter how many come together, if they ignore the interests of workers and the public, they will continue to face defeat".
Despite being projected as a prestige battle due to the alliance between the Thackeray cousin brothers, their front could not secure even a symbolic win.
Rao's union panel won 14 seats, while the Maha-Yuti-backed Sahakar Samruddhi panel managed seven seats. Rao thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Minister Ashish Shelar for their support during the election.
