Bobby AnthonyMumbai, Feb. 24 -- The BJP held an important meeting of the party's core committee at the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday to decide its Rajya Sabha candidate, sources said.

The development comes after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced elections for 37 vacant Rajya Sabha (RS) seats in 10 states recently.

Voting will be held on March 16. The official notification will be issued on February 26, after which candidates will be able to file nominations till March 5.

In Maharashtra, seven seats are falling vacant on April 2. Depending on the strength, the ruling Mahayuti which comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena and the NCP, is poised to win six seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Agh...
