Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- Nationalist Congress Party (NCP- SP) leader Sharad Pawar today said that excessive rains have devastated farmers, and that the government must take urgent steps to provide relief.
He said that Maharashtra has witnessed many droughts so far, but never rainfall like this year.
Maharashtra has experienced unprecedented rainfall this year, affecting agriculture, livestock and farmers' livelihoods. Remarkably, even districts historically known as drought-prone have seen heavy rains.
Soybeans, a key cash crop in these regions, have rotted due to excess rain, Pawar noted.
