Pune, Sept. 18 -- While union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is facing allegations over the ethanol mandate issue, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar has come out in his support.
Pawar said Gadkari has made significant contributions to the cooperative movement and that his policies are beneficial to farmers.
Speaking to media, Pawar observed that the sugar industry cannot rely solely on sugar production. "It is essential to link sugar with co-generation of electricity and the production of by-products like alcohol and ethanol," he said, adding that Gadkari's policies on ethanol are in the interest of farmers.
