New Delhi, Dec. 23 -- The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on Tuesday welcomed the passage of the SHANTI (Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India) Act, 2025, calling it a "comprehensive overhaul" of India's civil nuclear framework that will strengthen bilateral cooperation in clean energy.
The legislation, which received Presidential assent after being passed by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, marks the most significant reform of India's nuclear sector since independence. It repeals and replaces the Atomic Energy Act, 1962, and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010.
