Palampur, Dec. 8 -- Former union Minister and senior leader Shanta Kumar has expressed satisfaction that the government has finally acknowledged his long-standing demand regarding thousands of crores of Rupees lying unclaimed with various banks and institutions.
Shanta Kumar told UNI that the Government of India, including the union Finance Minister and the Prime Minister, has accepted the fact that a huge amount- running into several thousand crores- has remained unclaimed for decades.
"This money is lying not only in banks but also in several institutions, including the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). The total amount across all organisations is nearly two lakh crore rupees," he said.
