Palampur, Dec. 20 -- Former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned Indian sculptor Ram Sutar, creator of the world's tallest statue-the 182-metre Statue of Unity of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat.
In a condolence message issued, Shanta Kumar said that on behalf of the Vivekanand Trust, he paid rich tributes to the legendary artist. Recalling his association with Ram Sutar, he said that when the Trust decided to install a statue of Swami Vivekananda at its main gate, Sutar was simultaneously engaged in sculpting the statue of Sardar Patel on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
