Dharamshala, March 7 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and former union Minister Shanta Kumar on Saturday said that India's economic situation has changed significantly since Independence and called for reservation policies to be based on economic status rather than caste.

He said, "Over the past nearly 50 years, the country's socio-economic structure has undergone major changes, and today no caste group consists entirely of either rich or poor people.
