Chandigarh, Sept. 22 -- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has intensified its relief operations for flood-affected people, collecting over Rs 7 crore in donations to support rehabilitation efforts, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami told media at the committee's headquarters.
Dhami detailed the SGPC's ongoing initiatives, which began with distributing ration and water to affected areas under the guidance of gurdwara managers. As rehabilitation efforts progress, the SGPC is now providing diesel to aid in repairing embankments.
Approximately 6,000 liters of diesel have been supplied near the Khemkaran border, 11,000 liters in Sultanpur Lodhi, with an additional 8,000 liters scheduled for dispatch by September 25....
