Ahmedabad, Dec. 9 -- SG Pipers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Rangers recorded winning starts as the seventh edition of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) got underway with a slate of closely fought contests at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium on Tuesday.
Playing in Ahmedabad for the first time, the opening day saw all eight teams in action on the charcoal-coloured courts, with stars such as Rohan Bopanna, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Luciano Darderi drawing strong fan response.
SG Pipers Bengaluru opened their campaign with a 56-44 win over Gurgaon Grand Slammers. Shrivalli Bhamidipaty set the tone with an emphatic 18-7 victory over Sahaja Yamalapalli in the Women's Singles.
