Ranchi, Dec. 6 -- State remains in the grip of an intense cold wave as temperatures dipped sharply across several districts, significantly increasing winter severity.

The impact has been most prominent in Palamu, the Kolhan region, and parts of central Jharkhand. According to the Meteorological Department, more than 18 districts have recorded minimum temperatures below normal levels.

Cold conditions have intensified in Ranchi, Bokaro, Lohardaga, Gumla, Chatra, and Latehar, with severe chill felt during early mornings and late evenings. Kanke in Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.2degC, the lowest so far this season.
