Lucknow, Jan. 5 -- The cold wave has intensified in Uttar Pradesh after a sharp drop in minimum temperatures across several districts in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, Kanpur recorded a minimum of 3.2 degree Celsius, and Etawah 3.8 degree Celsius, marking the coldest night of the season so far.

Barabanki's mercury fell to 4.5degC, while Lucknow recorded 6degC, its coldest night this season. On January 1, Lucknow had a minimum of 7degC. The central parts of the state have experienced a 3-6degC drop in temperatures, with Kanpur seeing a significant 7.4degC fall within 24 hours. Etawah and Lucknow also witnessed sharp declines.
