Ranchi, Dec. 18 -- Cold weather has begun to show its harsh impact across Jharkhand, with several districts experiencing biting cold over the past 24 hours.
Areas including Garhwa, Palamu, Lohardaga and Ranchi witnessed shivering conditions, forcing people indoors despite sunshine during the day due to chilly and strong winds.
The intense cold has particularly affected the elderly and children, who are increasingly suffering from ailments such as cough, cold, flu and headaches.
The Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, has issued an alert regarding the cold wave conditions prevailing in the state.
According to meteorologist Abhishek Anand, there is little chance of relief from the cold over the next three days.
