Ranchi, Dec. 1 -- With the onset of December, Jharkhand has come under the grip of intense cold, significantly slowing down daily activities across several districts.

Icy winds sweeping through Ranchi, Palamu, Lohardaga, Khunti and Latehar have pushed temperatures down and forced people to bring out heavy winter clothing.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature across most parts of the state hovered between 10degC and 13degC on Sunday, while the maximum settled between 24degC and 27degC.

In Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, the mercury dropped to 16degC in the early hours, though strong cold winds intensified the chill during morning and evening hours.
