Imphal, Aug. 29 -- In a major security crackdown, Manipur Police and allied security forces conducted multiple operations across the state leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition and the arrest of several active insurgent cadres.

In one of the largest recoveries, Manipur Police recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition from the foothill of Uran-Chiru village and its surrounding areas under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East district.

The recovered items included three 5.56 x 45 mm INSAS rifles with magazines, one 7.62 x 39 mm AK-56 rifle with two magazines, two 7.62 x 39 mm Ghatak AK-47 rifles with magazines, one 7.62 x 51 mm SLR rifle with magazine, one 9 mm MP5 rifle with two magazines...
