Srinagar, Nov. 5 -- Police in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir today said that they rescued several animals from an unlicensed pet store.
Police said acting on a complaint received from Animal Aid Kashmir-an Anantnag-based NGO-a joint inspection was conducted at Zain Pet Store, Baramulla, in coordination with representatives from the Wildlife Protection Department and the Municipal Council Baramulla.
"During the inspection, several animals were rescued from the premises and handed over to the NGO on proper receipt through the Wildlife Department," police said.
Accordingly, action under Section 36 of the Police Act has been initiated at Police Station Baramulla.
