Chennai, Jan. 21 -- Seven fishermen from Tamil Nadu were on Wednesday arrested bythe Sri Lankan Navy along with their two boats for allegedly fishing in their territorial waters,even as Chief Minister M K Stalin wrote to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar urginghim to prevent further apprehensions and secure their release along with their fishing boatsby utilising appropriate diplomatic channels.

The fishermen, hailing from Mayiladuthurai district, had ventured into the sea last night andwere fishing in the Palk Strait region, when they were arrested by the Lankan Navy personnelfor fishing in their waters after crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
