Chandigarh, April 15 -- Tragedy struck late Tuesday night in Fatehgarh Sahib when a bus carrying 40 pilgrims overturned near Himmatpura village, resulting in the death of seven devotees and injuries to 21 others.

The victims, including women and children, were returning from the Baisakhi celebrations at Sri Anandpur Sahib when the accident occurred. Among the deceased were two brothers, identified as Lakhbir Singh and Harveer Singh, both residents of Main Majri village.

The accident occurred around 9:30 pm, when the bus reportedly developed a technical issue, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with an electric pole before flipping over.
