Shillong, July 10 -- Seven people were injured after a brick-laden truck overturned near a bridge close to the border outpost of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Phanda in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district on Thursday morning.

The brick-laden truck was enroute to Rongra from Mankachar when the accident occurred at around 5:30 am on a hilly stretch of the road.

On being alerted about the accident, BSF troopers along with its medical team rushed to the site and evacuated the injured persons.

A BSF nursing assistant provided first aid to the injured at the scene before they were evacuated to Baghmara Government Hospital for further medical treatment.

Meanwhile, police are investigating to ascertain the cause of the accident. ...
