Mumbai, May 23 -- The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied 301.81 points to 54,628.20 in the opening session as buying was seen in FMCG, Finance, Health Care and Industrials stocks.
The Nifty too rose 67.60 points to 16,333.75.
The Sensex registered the days high and low at 54,664.61 and 54,191.55 points respectively.
The Nifty registered the days high and low at 16,349.50 and 16,207.25 points respectively.
The Mid cap moved up 0.72 per cent and Small Cap by 0.45 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 25 advanced while 5 declined.
The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 4.15 per cent to Rs 7901.75, M& M by 2.92 per cent to Rs 931, Titan by 2.83 per cent to Rs 2198, Asian Paints by 2.34 per cent to Rs 3182.40 and L& T by 2.01 per cent to Rs 1642.40.
