Mumbai, Dec. 8 -- The BSE Sensex on Thursday gained 83 points at 62,494.20 as buying was seen in Commodities, Energy and Consumer Discretionary Goods and services stocks.
The Nifty rose 21.90 points at 18,582.40.
The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 62,633.56 and 62,320.18 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 18,625 and 18,536 points respectively.
The Mid Cap moved up by 0.03 per cent and Small Cap by 0.14 per cent.
In 30 scrips 16 advanced while 14 declined.
The gainers were Axis Bank by 1.56 per cent to Rs 929, L& T by 1.27 per cent to Rs 2150.50, Indus Ind Bank by 1.21 per cent to Rs 1280 and L& T by 1.07 per cent to Rs 2146.30.
