Mumbai, June 23 -- BSE Sensex on Monday slumped by 511.38 points to close at 81,896.39, tracking negative cues from global peers on concerns over the ongoing tension in the Middle East region.
Traders said that investor sentiment remained cautious amid escalating geopolitical tensions following U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
National Stock Exchange (NSE) too declined by 140.50 points to settle at 24,971.90.
The Sensex opened lower at 81,704.07 against its previous close of 82,408.17. Sensex registered intra-day low of 81,476.76 and a high of 82, 169.67 respectively.
The Nifty registered the day's high at 25,057.00 and low of 24,824.85 points.
