Sensex registered intra-day highs and lows at 83,985.09 and 83,682.41, respectively.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 25,622.50 and a low at 25,537.35 pts.
Midcap rose by 151.53 points, and small cap advanced by 233.31 pts.
All sectoral indices barring BSE Financial, which was marginally down by 0.08 pc, are trading with a positive bias.
