Mumbai, Jan. 28 -- The BSE Sensex on Tuesday surged 471 pts at 75,837 in the opening session as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced measures to ease the liquidity in the banking sector.
Positive impact was seen in banking stocks as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank advanced in the early trade.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 56.55 pts at 22,885.70.
The equity market bounced back as the Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 75,850.87 and 75,622.88 pts, respectively.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 22,973.45 and 22,859.70 pts, respectively.
However, the mid cap fell 1.10 pc and Small cap by 2.65 pc.
In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
