Mumbai, Feb. 1 -- The BSE Sensex declined 106.81 points on Thursday to settle at 71,645.30 as selling was witnessed in Telecommunication, Capital Goods, Metal, and Realty stocks.

Even the budget that was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman failed to cheer the investors.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased 28.25 points to 21,697.45.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,832.95 and 21,658.75 points, respectively.

The Sensex opened at 71,998.78, up 246 points. It surged 399 points to 72,151.02 days high. Later, it went in red as it dropped 178 points at 71,574.89, days low during the day, before closing at 71,645.30, sliding 106.81 points from its previous close.
