Mumbai, June 17 -- BSE Sensex on Tuesday declined by 212.85 points to close at 81,583.30 tracking negative cues from Global peers , amid rising geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE), too, fell by 93.10 points to settle at 24,853.40.
The Sensex opened marginally higher at 81,869.47 against its previous close of 81,796.15 and rose to an intraday high of 81,890.15 ,it recorded the day low off 81,427.01.
The NSE registered a day's high at 24,982.05 and a day's low at 24,813.70.
Mid-cap fell by 0.56 pc and the small-cap declined by 0.67 pc.
The market breadth was weak . On the BSE as 1,501 share rose and 2,477 shares fell. A total of 140 shares were unchanged.
