Mumbai, Feb. 11 -- The equity market continued to slid for the fifth consecutive session on Tuesday, with BSE Sensex plunged 1018.20 pts to 76,293.60 on weak global cues.
Ongoing US trade policy too hit the market badly.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 309.80 pts at 23,071.80.
The Sensex rose 73 pts to open at 77,384.98. It gained 76 pts at 77,387.28, a days high.
Later, it tanked 1281 pts at 76,030.59, a day low, before closing at 76,293.60, slumping 1018.20 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 23,390.05 and 22,986.65 pts respectively.
The stocks that tumbled down were Realty by 3.14 pc, Industrials by 2.87 pc, Health Care by 2.78 pc and Auto by 2.49 pc.
