Mumbai, May 27 -- After a two-day rally, the BSE Sensex on Tuesday dropped 409.05 pts to 81,767.40 in early trade on profit booking amid a mixed trend in the global market.
The Nifty too lost 145.60 pts at 24,856.30.
The Sensex that opened at 82,038.20, easing 138 pts, immediately tanked over 400 pts as selling was seen across the board.
The Sensex registered an intraday high and low at 82,091.54 pts and 81,743.87 pts, respectively.
The Nifty registered a day's high at 24,976.10 and a low at 24,840.40 pts.
The mid cap rose 0.03 pc and the small cap by 0.10 pc.
In 30 scrips, 2 advanced, 27 declined, and 1 was unchanged.
