Mumbai, Feb. 8 -- The BSE Sensex on Thursday crashed 723.57 pts to settle at 71,428.43 as RBI failed to enthuse the investors, as RBI, in its Monetary Policy, kept its key rates unchanged.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 212.55 points to 21,717.95.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,011.05 and 21,665.30 pts, respectively.

The Sensex opened at 72,473.42, up 321 points, and it remained days high.

Later, it dropped 922 points to 71,230.62, days low, before closing at 71,428.43, tumbling 723.57 points from its previous close.

The stocks that slipped were Bankex, FMCG, and BSE Commodities stocks.

The midcap rose by 0.08 pc, while the small cap fell by 0.44 pc.

In 30 scrips, 8 advanced while 22 declined.
