Mumbai, Nov. 18 -- The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchagne (BSE) on Monday fell by 72.50 points to settle at 40,284.19, snapping a positive streak of last two sessions on selling pressure in Materials, Energy, Telecom, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) too ended in red at 11,894.25, easing by 1.20 points.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 11,946.20 and 11,867.60 points respectively.

Gaining 240 points in last two sessions, the Sensex opened higher by 75 points to 40,431.08. It surged by 186 points to 40,542.40, days high.

In late trade it tumbled down nearly 135 points to 40,221.97, days low before closing at 40,284.19, sliding by 72.50 points from its last close.
