Bhubaneswar, Dec. 15 -- Senior Congress leader and former Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim, who recently stirred controversy by questioning the leadership of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das, has been expelled from the primary membership of the Congress party.

In a brief letter, OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das stated that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had approved the proposal to expel Moquim for alleged anti-party activities.

Moquim, whose daughter currently represents the Cuttack-Barabati constituency as a Congress MLA, said he has accepted the decision of the party high command.
