Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 21 -- The newly formed Senior Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI) has urged the Union Government to introduce a central pension scheme for retired journalists, along with a nationwide health protection plan.

The demand was raised at the All India Conference of senior journalists, which concluded here today, formally giving shape to the federation. Delegates also sought the restoration of concessional railway travel benefits that had been withdrawn earlier.
