Davangere, Dec. 14 -- Senior Congress leader and Davangere South MLA Dr Shamanur Shivashankarappa passed away here on Sunday evening. He was 94.
According to family sources, Dr Shivashankarappa breathed his last at around 6.50 PM at a private hospital in Davangere, where he was undergoing treatment for age-related ailments.
A veteran politician, educationist, industrialist and social worker, Dr Shivashankarappa was born on June 16, 1931, in Davangere district. He served as the treasurer of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee for nearly three decades and had also held the post of Horticulture Minister in the state government.
