Patna, Nov. 11 -- Former union Minister and senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan resigned from the party's primary membership on Tuesday.

In his resignation letter sent to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, copy of which was circulated in the press here, Khan said it was not possible for him to continue in the party, and so he was resigning from its primary membership with a heavy heart.

Khan said he had decided to quit the party earlier, but made it public today after the voting was over because he never wanted to send a wrong signal during elections.
