Mumbai, April 12 -- Senior Supreme Court Advocate Hitesh Jain has been appointed as full-time member of the 23rd Law Commission of India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources said on Saturday.

Jain, Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Mumbai unit, has served as Special Counsel for Maharashtra in the Supreme Court as also the Bombay High Court.

He has also argued civil, criminal and rent-related matters before District Courts as well as consumer forums, the Competition Commission of India, TDSAT, and in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration, the sources said.
