Mumbai, Aug. 21 -- A self-styled godman was arrested for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman under the pretext of performing rituals to "cure her of evil spirits," said police.
The accused, identified as Abdul Rashid (45), was produced today before a megistrate court, which remanded him in police custody till August 23.
Police said the woman had been facing family problems and health issues, and had approached Rashid for help. He, however, convinced her that she was possessed and only tantrik rituals could free her from "evil spirits."
