Bhubaneswar, July 13 -- Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and BJD President Naveen Patnaik has urged Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati to intervene in the case relating to the self-immolation attempt by a girl student of FM Autonomous College, Balasore.

In a post on his official X handle, Patnaik described the incident as "shocking and deeply distressing", saying that such an act in one of Odisha's premier universities reflects a serious failure of the system.

Patnaik reminded that the Governor, as Chancellor of major government-run universities including Fakir Mohan University, must ensure that justice is delivered to the student, who allegedly endured prolonged sexual harassment.
